SELLING: One 11 year old beagle named Jack.  Will throw in his brother Henry for the right price.  Jack is a sweet beagle we rescued from a hounds-only shelter about 8 years ago (along with his brother).  He is tri-colored with huge brown eyes. He is for sale because we can no longer afford to feed his ravenous appetite – case in point: I came home from picking up my preschooler to find Jack had managed to grab a hold of my baguette I was planning on eating with soup on this rainy Monday.  Entire baguette – gone.  Jack has a tendency to do this with any food he can get his paws on – boxes of chocolate, whole pizzas, BBQ anything, and 2 challah bread loaves bought specifically to make my family french toast on Christmas morning (which made Jack so fat he could barely fit through the dog door and we had to call the emergency vet to make sure his stomach wouldn’t explode. Merry Christmas).  He is super cute and my girls just adore him, which is probably why I haven’t tried to sell him until now, but man I was really looking forward to that bread.

Any takers?

Sweet little Scarlett, looking outside on a rainy morning in Downtown LA.

Excited to share more from this shoot soon.

I’ve been a little quiet on the blog home front, but this project has been hanging over my head for a while now so I put my head down and finally finished it.  I present my new lifestyle portrait website!

I decided last year to create a separate website to feature my lifestyle portraits.  You can check it out here at www.melissabrandman.com/lifestyle

I’m excited for some changes to my lifestyle business, including:

1) all shoots will feature both digital AND film photography. I’m excited to work with my clients to use both mediums to create a more personalized set of family images.

2) a portion of all lifestyle portrait profits will be donated to Operation Smile. I spent most of last year trying to decide how to use my business to give back in a meaningful way, and Operation Smile was that missing puzzle piece I was looking for.  I have the pleasure of photographing some pretty adorable smiling faces – I love the idea of giving the gift of a beautiful smile to children born with a cleft lip or palate.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I had just switched to using my Contax and finished setting up this shot when the park ranger approached us to have a chat…

Darn park ranger – doesn’t he know how awesome film can be?

It doesn’t seem to matter how well-intentioned I am: I get up earlier, I drink coffee before the kids get up, I start packing lunches and getting myself ready. Doesn’t matter, because come 7am I feel like I’ve been shot out of a canon.  When it comes to Mondays, I need coffee and I need to be amused.

Ever since I took the girls to see the Muppets, the soundtrack has been playing in my house/car non-stop.  And for your Monday listening and viewing pleasure, I present to you the most requested song from the soundtrack (according to my kids):

There is nothing cuter than listening to my 3.5 year old belt this tune out.  Happy Monday, and you’re welcome.

PS – Me Party is a close second when it comes to requested Muppet songs.
